And the Silence Continues . . .

Every conversation with Bonnie, since she's gotten back to New Jersey, has been initiated by me.  No email to let us know they arrived safely; I had to see it in Facebook.

Then when the movers called here looking for her, I gave them her phone number.  And then it was a question about whether everything went ok.  And then after I sent the check to cover the move they still haven't cashed it; I had to send an email last week, after I got a Priority Mail envelope with the moving paperwork in it, letting her know that I'd received the paperwork and have you cashed my check yet?  Let me note here that it was JUST the paperwork, no note, no hi-how-are-you, f-you, nothing.  She answered that she was waiting for me to receive the paperwork, and that now she would have Carlos deposit the check ASAP.  That was March 17th.

So out of sheer cussedness (as my father used to call it), I just sent another followup email.  I guess Carlos is too busy working a full-time job, doing the laundry, cleaning the house, and cooking, to stop by the bank.  I really want to see the check when it clears - I want to see if he signed it over to her.

No one can believe the way she treated us: our friends, our doctor, our therapist, no one.  Everyone, though, keeps saying that she will realize how much we've helped her.  I don't think that'll happen.

Meantime, I imagine she is continuing on her path of destruction, being nice to people for as long as they give her money and things, and dropping them when they are either out of cash, or have caught on to what she's doing and stop the cash.

Tomorrow makes a month that she will have left, and I am wondering if she will make good on what she said about coming back to see the orthodontist about her jaw surgery.  I spoke with Doug, my friend Stephen's partner and her dentist, and he said he was quite amazed when she told him she was leaving.  He doesn't know any dentists in New Jersey to whom to refer her, and is not sure Dr. Chui, the orthodontist, knows of anyone either.  Too bad.  She could have left on a much better note, but was so intent on leaving she burned all her bridges here.
